India special offer – Tailormade ‘Tigers off-the-beaten-track’!

The Naturetrek Tailormade team is used to creating itineraries that send our intrepid clients well off-the-beaten-track, in search of rare and exciting wildlife to some of the lesser-visited corners and national parks of our planet. Here we’ve designed a special offer itinerary to India that we hope gives you a taste of the type of off-the-beaten-track holiday that is possible. This private tour can be booked as is it (on departure dates chosen by you), or it can be tweaked to create your ideal wildlife break. Should you have any questions, or wish to enquire about the holiday, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!

Few visitors reach Dudhwa National Park! This beautifully scenic reserve comprises an enticing mosaic of habitats including grasslands, dense Sal forests and swampy marshes; indeed, the terrain is as diverse as the wildlife population. During your time here you will be searching for Tigers as well as a plethora of other wildlife such as Swamp Deer, Indian One-horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephants, Sloth Bear, Jackal, Jungle Cat, Leopard, Civet, Fishing Cat and many more. The marshlands provide ideal habitat for about 400 species of resident and migratory birds including Swamp Francolin, Great Slaty Woodpecker, Bengal Florican, Painted Stork and Sarus Crane. Corbett National Park is one of the most tranquil places in northern India, and with a count of 164 Tigers, has the largest wild Tiger population of any protected area on the planet. Other exciting wildlife here includes Asian Elephant, Leopard, Hog Deer, Wild Boar, Yellow-throated Marten and Jackal. Huge Mugger Crocodiles are often on view around the shores of the reservoir and the endangered fish-eating Gharial Crocodile is another exciting possibility. With over 600 species of birds recorded, birders will not be disappointed and might expect species such as White-backed Vulture, Hodgson's Bushchat, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Indian Pitta, Himalayan Rubythroat and Scarlet Minivet.
Various extensions are possible, including ‘overlanding’ into Nepal’s wonderful national parks, or a visit to Chambal Gharial Crocodile Sanctuary and the famous Taj Mahal.
