Tour Leader: Cliff Waller

Naturetrek tour leader – Cliff WallerCliff was the site manager for a string of National Nature Reserves along the Suffolk coast, the jewel of which was Walberswick. He has also worked in a special security unit in Kenya and the Middle East, which gave him a lifelong interest in travel. An all-round naturalist, he has published many articles and a book. He has been assistant warden at Fair Isle Bird Observatory and warden of Lundy Island and Upper Teesdale National Nature Reserves, the latter encouraging an interest in alpine plants. Birds, however, have always been Cliff's main interest, particularly species and conservation management, and he has acted on the county rarity and records committees of both Yorkshire and his adopted county of Suffolk. He has travelled widely, being in charge of ringing for the Oxford University expedition to Afghanistan, and has led many wildlife tours particularly to India, Africa and the Soviet Union. At present, Cliff is an independent wildlife consultant working for the RSPB and a national gravel company.
