Belize offers swathes of untouched rainforest, mangrove coastline and splendid coral reefs to explore. On arrival in Belize, we begin with a 4-night stay at Pook’s Hill where just metres from our comfortable cabins we’ll marvel at the dazzling variety of orioles, toucans, hummingbirds and other birds around us, and hope to see Kinkajou and some impressive insects during night walks! Next we head for Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, a maze of protected waterways and lagoons which holds a wonderful variety of wetland birds as well as providing a home for Black Howler Monkeys, Morelet's Crocodiles, Coatimundi, several species of turtle and a host of other wildlife.
Typical Caribbean fare with a latin twist. Lots of rice, chicken and pulses!

Due to extensive deforestation throughout much of the rest of Central America, the Chiquibul Rainforest in Belize provides one of the few remaining sanctuaries for many endangered species. Las Cuevas Research Station and Explorers Lodge lie in the heart of this forest and provide a base for scientists undertaking important field research in the forest ? and for conservation-orientated visitors who wish to experience living in this remote and unexplored part of the world. Las Cuevas is an operational field station where scientists are working to provide the knowledge that can create a sustainable long-term future for the Chiquibul and other tropical forests. By staying here you are also helping by creating an economic incentive for saving these forests. Not only do you have the chance to see unspoilt nature but you will also see ‘science-in-action’s. You will be in a place where today’s discovery could be a new species or a vital piece of understanding that will help unravel the complex web of life that is a rainforest. This tour is based partly at Las Cuevas, the perfect location from which to explore the Chiquibul rainforest. Hummingbird feeders, together with regularly stocked bird tables, ensure that many bird species can be seen from the veranda of the Explorers Lodge itself. Ocelots and other cats have also been seen in our clearing. During day trips and night drives you will have the possibility of seeing other rare and exotic flora and fauna, including Jaguar, Harpy Eagle, Tapir, Fer-de-lance, King Vulture and River Otter, etc. Travelling through altitudinal variation and different local habitats means you will see many different botanical, mammal and bird environments during the week. Our expert local guides will always on hand to look after your safety and make sure you see as much as possible.
We will be running this tour in the near future but as yet have not finalised dates and prices. To register your interest and be added a waiting list to be informed when details are confirmed, please contact us or phone 01962 733051.
