Our base for this new painting holiday is Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge (TMPL), situated a thousand feet above the Pokhara Valley and commanding the most spectacular of views onto the highest peaks of the central Himalaya, amongst them such 8,000-metre giants as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu … not to mention Machapuchare, the exquisite ‘Fish-tail Mountain’. Under Darren’s expert guidance we will make daily walks into the surrounding countryside in search of laughing-thrushes, babblers, bulbuls, flowerpeckers, flycatchers, sunbirds, tits and warblers as well as much other wildlife. We will paint outside, directly from life, painting in watercolour and honing our artistic skills. This holiday will suit those with an interest in painting birds and mountain scenery in watercolours. We will enjoy views of the snowclad Great Himalaya, including the Annapurna range, Langtang Himal and many of Nepal’s other high peaks (provided the weather is clear!). A pre-tour extension to Suklaphanta National Park and a post-tour extension to the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve are also available.
