Wildlife holidays in The Gambia
Tell me about The Gambia …
The Gambia offers a combination of superlative bird watching with a warm sunny climate, making it an ideal holiday destination.
Increasing numbers of European bird watchers are taking advantage of The Gambia’s unique accessibility.
With much of West Africa either in political turmoil or very expensive to visit, the tiny West African Republic of The Gambia remains an astonishing bargain for travellers and it has a friendly, easygoing atmosphere.
It’s a country worth exploring – there are many examples of fascinating African culture in the rural heart of the country, where the latest European fashions and music have little part to play in the daily life of the villages.

WHAT YOU'VE BEEN SAYING ABOUT OUR The Gambia HOLIDAYS
I thoroughly enjoyed the Gambia trip and would particularly like to express my thanks to our guide, Mamadou, who was excellent at finding and identifying the birds and ensuring that we all had good views.
Cliff Waller is a superb tour leader. Very knowledgeable and excellent at dealing with problems. I really enjoyed Cliff’s company and hope to travel with him again sometime. A real asset to Naturetrek.
Vast amount of birds. Excellent Naturetrek leader - Ed gets 12 out of 10. Took time with individuals to make sure everyone was catered for both in terms of logistics and also specific interest i.e. photography.
He was also very knowledgeable on birds in Gambia. Likeable chap.!
Staff at Mandina Lodge gave a good level of service. Chef certainly looked after us - the food was scrumptious...felt spoilt.
