National Geographic choses Naturetrek Sweden tour for its ‘50 holidays of a lifetime’!

Wolf tracks

National Geographic’s ‘50 tours of a lifetime!’
We are delighted that our ‘Sweden – Wolf tracking in Winter’ holiday has been chosen by National Geographic as one of their 50 tours of a lifetime for 2015! During this tour we join Anders Stahl, ex-special forces officer turned Wolf expert, in the heart of Sweden. Surrounded by frozen lakes and snow-covered hills and forests, we spend our days tracking mammals long since extinct here in the UK, such as Wolves, Lynx and Elk, as well as Otter, Wolverine and Pine Marten. Travelling each day clad in snow shoes, we move quietly through the forests, learning about the lives of these special mammals along the way.

Our next 5-day 'Sweden – Wolf tracking in Winter' holiday departs Thursday 4th February 2016.
The summer is also a fantastic time to visit Sweden, with long sunny days and incredibly light evenings allowing us to maximise our time even on a short weekend break. Our ‘Sweden’s Bears’ holiday take you by plane and by train deep into the heart of Sweden’s ‘bear country’, to an idyllic lodge overlooking a beautiful lake, where the silence and stillness is intoxicating. Here, you will have the opportunity to spend one or two nights in a very comfortable, purpose-built bear hide. As you wait, and whilst the sense of hope and anticipation mounts, your guide will entertain you with stories of the forest (all conducted in whispers, of course!). With a little luck, we hope that you will be taken by surprise as a Brown Bear suddenly appears, as if from nowhere, in this beautiful and atmospheric clearing, ambling through the forest in front of the hide before night falls.

Our next 4-day Sweden’s Bears weekend departs on Thursday 23rd July.
