Wildlife holidyas in Zambia

Tell me about Zambia …

Zambia is huge, covering an area as large as Hungary, Austria, Switzerland and France combined. Roughly kidney-shaped, it is a landlocked tropical plateau of between 900 to 1200 metres above sea level.

The country is bordered by Angola to the west, Zaire and Tanzania to the north, Malawi to the east and by Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia to the south. Zambia takes its name from the Zambezi River, which rises in the north-west corner of the country and forms its southern boundary.

Much of the nations wealth is derived from mining and agriculture but for the visitor its greatest assets are its unspoilt nature and magnificent national parks. Indeed it is a beautiful country – of trees, grasslands, lakes, rivers and dramatic skies.

From the tumultuous Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River, to the great and varied wildlife of the Luangwa Valley, and from the lakes in the north to the vast floodplains in the west, the country offers an ever-changing spectacle.

Our Zambia specialist recommends..

"I recommend our ‘Zambia on Foot – Ultimate Africa!’ for an experience of the ‘real’ Africa. Enjoy the wonders of Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, exploring the landscape and watching the wildlife on foot whilst staying at some of the most exclusive bush camps in Africa."

WHAT YOU'VE BEEN SAYING ABOUT OUR Zambia HOLIDAYS

Am I pleased I went to Zambia! Fantastic lodge, safari vehicles and guide. Wildlife was unbelievable including 2 bush babies and an Aardvark not to mention Painted Dogs. The birds were brilliant and the weather was great.
Kafunta is in a really beautiful location and it was lovely to be able to watch the animals and birds from the lodges, terraces and the hide. The richness and diversity of wildlife far exceeded my expectations - it must be the best place in Africa for viewing leopards - and I was amazed that the animals were so relaxed, unafraid and they provided endless photo opportunities. The vehicles were comfortable and very well designed to maximise viewing for everyone on board. The staff were wonderful - friendly, obviously well trained and clearly enjoying their work. The food and general comfort were excellent.
The Kafunta Lodge was superb, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Our guide was excellent, the food was wonderful, and of course the setting and the wildlife were amazing. The Pioneer Camp that we went to while we waited for our flight to Dubai was excellent too. They couldn't have been more helpful, giving us meals when we wanted them and providing a large bungalow for our use. The grounds provided excellent birdwatching as well.
