Andy Tucker – Managing Director
As Naturetrek’s Managing Director, Andy works closely on company strategy with Founding Directors David and Maryanne Mills and other departments within the business (marketing, product, operations, finance, sustainability, HR and customer service) to ensure that Naturetrek remains at the cutting edge of wildlife travel. Advocating outstanding customer service at all times, delivered with a personal touch, his simple aim is to ensure Naturetrek delivers unbeatable wildlife holidays around the globe in as sustainable a manner as possible. On a personal level he oversees our operations across much of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America and manages to lead the occasional tour, most recently to Spain’s Coto Doñana. However, he’s most at home atop a canopy tower in the lowland Amazon rainforest! Away from the world of wildlife travel, Andy has exchanged his football boots for running trainers, remains a keen but occasional cricketer, is a busy dad of four and a lifelong supporter of Watford FC.
Life Before Naturetrek
Andy cut his birding teeth in the YOC in primary school and later on coach trips with his dad run by his local RSPB group. Growing up with a love of mountains, sport, wildlife and adventure, he completed the Land’s End to John O’Groats bike ride at 16 and went on to study Aquatic Biology at Aberystwyth. This led to work in fisheries consultancy for a year and then travel to south-east Peru in 1996 to work as a guide in the Amazon, followed by a year in Ecuador where, between guiding commitments, he travelled around the continent studying the birds, wildlife, culture and Spanish language.
