Angel Ortiz
Angel is based near Tayrona National Park, located on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. He graduated as a professional tourism guide back in 2008 and started guiding cultural and ‘eco’ tours. As he progressed, he became fascinated by the region’s rich avifauna, including the fabled endemics of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. In 2017 Angel was invited to join an Audubon Society program to further extend his knowledge of the region’s birds and during the course he stood out amongst his peers as one of the most promising bird guides. Since then, he has been leading private groups and tailormade birding tours throughout the region, further honing his already excellent knowledge of bird vocalisations. During his free time Angel enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as activities including cycling and football.
