Vanessa Lewis – Reservations & Customer Support

Vanessa joined Naturetrek’s Reservations and Customer Support team when she returned to live in the UK in 2022, after living in France. Her role is entirely customer-focused: answering enquiries, helping to prevent and resolve any problems and taking bookings. She and her colleagues are also kept busy compiling and sending the pre-departure packs to clients – something she particularly enjoys and says 'it’s like travelling around the world in 80 days, only we do it every week!'.

Vanessa's previous career was in the advertising industry, firstly as a designer and then moving across to production and creative services. In 2010 she moved to France – initially to the beautiful Presqu’ile de Crozon in Brittany and then moving south to the Haute-Garonne and the foothills of the Pyrenees. It was in France that she discovered the beauty of the natural world – the countryside, the wildlife and the amazing skies (although the food and wine were pretty good too!). She then lived in the Caribbean for a few months and has fond memories of watching sugarbirds hovering outside her bathroom window whilst cleaning her teeth!

Her most amazing travel memory is from travelling in Kenya: "Whilst on safari in Samburu National Reserve, I was reading my book relaxing before our evening game drive only to look up and see an elephant heading towards me, having crossed the river to savour the juicier leaves – I shouldn’t have been surprised, as the camp was called Elephant Bedroom!".
