Alex Perry
Having spent much of his childhood wandering among the meadows, forests and streams of the Bulgarian mountains, Alex developed a fascination for the amazing diversity of invertebrates he encountered and, after the gift of a camera, set about photographing and identifying them. His interest quickly broadened into reptiles and amphibians, as well as birds, mammals and orchids. Now an experienced photographer, his photos regularly appear online and in print.
As his identification skills and knowledge developed, Alex became actively involved with the NGO ‘Wild Rodopi’, joining research expeditions to help find, record and monitor the biodiversity of the Rodopi Mountains in Bulgaria. Currently studying Computer Science at the University of Oxford, Alex enjoys using his technical skills to aid the NGO in managing, analysing and visualizing their wildlife data. Alex also has a particular passion for moths and moth trapping, and was commissioned by both the Kent and Somerset Moth groups to create their websites and contribute to the management of their records.
Alex takes great pleasure in sharing the excitement of finding and observing wildlife, and as a tour leader hopes to be able to pass on some of his knowledge and enthusiasm onto others.
