Nick Ransdale
Nick grew up in Essex, and developed an interest in butterflies, orchids and odonata whilst heavily involved in the birding scene there. When living in England, he travelled extensively in Asia and Africa, as well as frequent trips to Europe. After 30 years as a surveyor, Nick left the Ordnance Survey in 2003 - offering the opportunity of a move to France, which he and his wife did in January 2006. They settled in Moulismes, a village in the Vienne, where the interest in odonata grew, having discovered he could quite easily see over 50 breeding species per year! As in Essex, he continues to do voluntary survey work, now for the LPO, the French RSPB, and has built up an extensive knowledge of wildlife in the Vienne and the Brenne.
