Rob Williams
Rob Williams is an ecologist who has specialised in conservation work in tropical countries; over the past two decades, he has worked for various international conservation organisations, mainly in Peru and Ecuador. He is currently a freelancer doing conservation consultancy work, film-making, photography, guiding and is also currently working on a guide to the world’s Hummingbirds. Although he was initially an obsessive birder, his interests have broadened to include mammals, herpetofauna and, increasingly, invertebrates, especially butterflies and dragonflies. He has a special interest in low-density carnivores, trying to find ways that they can live in human-dominated landscapes, and has worked on Andean Bear, Andean Condor, Giant Otter and Andean Mountain Cat to this end. He currently lives in Somerset and is chair and research coordinator of the Somerset Otter Group. Having lived and worked in Spain, Ecuador and Peru he speaks fluent Spanish and gets by in Portuguese!
