Summary
The most northerly and isolated of the Channel Islands, Alderney is a tranquil backwater accessible only by air, where visitors and cars are sparse and the locals most welcoming. This charming island is worth an extended stay and, on this 8-day holiday, we will enjoy a thorough range of activities in search of the island's wildlife. These will include moth-trap inspections and butterfly walks, seabird and marine-life cruises, wild flower and birdwatching walks, a nocturnal search for the island's famous 'blonde' hedgehog and other wildlife, a town tour, museum visit and a little history (Roman, Victorian and WW2), plus an introduction to bird ringing at the new Alderney Bird Observatory. Many of these excursions can be enjoyed on walks out from and back to our comfortable hotel in the centre of the small island, St Anne.
