Went to a variety of sites and saw some excellent birds. Most enjoyable trip. Dan Rouse looked after us very well and had a great knowledge of sites, birds and we saw Hen Harrier, Black Grouse and Great Grey Shrike etc. Would definitely like to go with her again. G.M. Hertfordshire

Summary
Supporting an outstanding diversity of habitats, north-west Wales is one of the UK’s most thriving areas for birdlife, and our exciting birdwatching holiday is set to deliver a range of specialities from this wonderful region. We will first search the northern coastline for waders and other estuarine species, which should number in their thousands, before setting our sights inland. Picturesque Sessile Oak woodlands tucked away in the lush valleys for which this country is so famed harbour a number of key specialities, amongst a plethora of other delights, which may include Dipper and Goosander. Our final few days of the holiday will be spent exploring the dramatic headlands of Great Orme and South Stack, where we will aim to seek out Choughs, Ravens and much more in this superb birding area. One of the reserves we aim to visit is famed for a wintering flock of Greenland White-fronted Geese; subtly different from the commoner Russian White-fronts, the Greenlands will prove to be a highlight as flocks are hopefully seen grazing on the vast meadows.
Each day of the tour will be taken at a gentle pace and led by an expert local leader. Our base in the beautiful town of Betws-y-Coed is perfectly located, with the region’s best birding locations within reasonable driving distance.
- Visit the Dee Estuary to observe thousands of wintering birds, mostly waders
- Enjoy the sight of picturesque Welsh valleys as we head south
- Visit the vast headlands of Great Orme and South Stack
- Observe the uncommon Greenland White-fronted Geese
- Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers may be found amongst roaming tit flocks
