Summary
Vietnam is rarely viewed as a birdwatching destination, so great is the lure of its rich culture for the general tourist. However, this beautiful south-east Asian country harbours the region's most sought-after birds, including several endemic species, and, birds rarely encountered elsewhere, including one of the star attractions, the Bar-bellied Pitta! Stunning scenery, as well as pristine forested mountains, are other major attractions as we venture from the centre of the country, to the very south! During this 16-day holiday, we will cover much of central Vietnam in search of its diverse avian-life, including visits to Cuc Phuong National Park, areas close to Dalat, and lastly, Cat Tien National Park. Rare primates will feature too, with Delacour's Langur, Black-shanked Douc Langur and Buff-cheeked Gibbon hopefully making appearances. A wealth of forest birds from rare partridges to flocks of broadbills will hopefully be encountered on the well-marked forest trails of the parks, accumulating an extensive bird list during our time here.
In addition to the main tour, there is the option of selecting any three extensions, whether this will be further birdwatching in different areas, or a visit to Ho Chi Minh City and a boat trip along the Mekong River!

Extensions
Mekong Delta Extension
This superb extension to your Vietnam holiday will enable you to fully immerse yourself in Vietnam's way of life, as this one-night cruise will venture to areas rarely visited by tourists. Enjoy relaxing on deck of The Bassac, taking in the lush forested waterways, before disembarking at a local village for a short time of sight-seeing and appreciating the way of life. The next morning, after an overnight stay onboard, you will disembark and slowly make your way back to Ho Chi Minh City, where the plan for the next two days will involve visiting the city's famous landmarks, and then, having the privilege of venturing into the Cu Chi tunnels. On your last day after a day of leisure, you will be transferred to the airport for your onwards travels.
Central Vietnam Birding Extension
This 5-day extension compliments our full birding holiday by entering two national parks which harbour yet more superb species in Central Vietnam. As well a number of near-endemic birds including Sooty Babbler, and Limestone Leaf Warbler, we will also hope to see the endagered Ha Tinh Langur!
