Beginner birdwatching holidays led by expert naturalists

Many people take great pleasure in watching birds, and are keen to deepen their understanding while gaining the confidence to be able to identify the species (or at least some of the species!) that they encounter.

We offer a range of holidays specially designed for the novice birdwatcher. These tours are designed to run at a slower pace than other similar holidays and provide an enhanced level of guidance from our expert leaders, ensuring a supportive and enjoyable learning experience.

While we aim to observe all the key species that make each destination special, we allow more time for explanation and discussion, helping you to recognise different species, understand their behaviours and develop your birdwatching skills in a relaxed and rewarding way.

Our beginner birdwatching specialist recommends

"It’s hard to beat the Somerset Levels for the beginner birder. Our Somerset Levels winter break offers a perfect introduction to a variety of waterbirds and, of course, you can enjoy the impressive Starling murmurations. Further afield, our week-long holidays to Extremadura and Coto Doñana in Spain are great for getting to grips with more exotic Mediterranean species."
