The tour leader was an expert in all the field and was very effective in communicating his enthusiasm and knowledge. The group was small and we stayed in a comfortable hotel with stunning views out to the estuary. Each day was dedicated to a specific habitat and aspect of Cornish wildlife with the beavers of the Cornish Beaver Project being a particular highlight. Naturetrek provide a huge range of wildlife holidays in the UK and around the world. This is the fifth time I have travelled with them and I would definitely do so again.

Summary
The beautiful county of Cornwall, with its majestic coastal cliffs, quaint seaside towns and rolling countryside delivers some of the finest wildlife sightings in the UK. During this holiday we will have a wonderful opportunity to not only learn about Beavers, but hopefully to witness them too as we are privately guided by a professional on a private reserve. Beavers were released on this site in June 2017, and after just two nights, had already started to build a dam. When on site, the owner will show us the fine structures that the Beavers have created, and with some luck, we hope to view these mammals at dusk. In addition, we will take a vessel off the Cornish coastline to search for a variety of seabirds and cetaceans, with sightings perhaps comprising both Minke Whales and Ocean Sunfish (if weather permits a longer trip). We will also walk the spectacular coastline of the Lizard in search of Cornwall's most famed bird - the Chough. Gentle walks elsewhere will enable us to view a number of birds, dragonflies and wildflowers, making this the perfect wildlife getaway for the all-round naturalist.
- A bespoke guided tour on a private reserve for Eurasian Beavers
- A 7-hour catamaran excursion for cetaceans and seabirds
- Coastal walks for Choughs and wildflowers
- Short-beaked Common Dolphins and Harbour Porpoise likely; White-beaked Dolphins on 2023 tour
- Scenic coastal walks
- Rare Odonata, including Red-veined Darters, are regularly seen
- A centrally-based and beautiful hotel close to Falmouth
- Led by an expert naturalist

Tour Leader: Oliver Smart
Following a childhood fascination with the natural world, Oliver went on to study ornithology at the University of Birmingham during his mid-twenties. Alongside an emerging interest in photography, learning the art of bird ringing and volunteering for the Avon Wildlife Trust, BTO and RSPB, Oliver has put time to good use. His main passion is birds and through photography he has built a diverse collection of imagery, which is represented by both RSPB Images and Alamy. Combined with a desire to travel, Oliver has explored many parts of the world; his favourite destinations usually including a seabird colony or two, where the sight, sound, smell and opportunities for a photographer are second to none. His claim to fame to date though is an image he took in the Seychelles which has been used on a bank note!
