Summary

Once widespread across the Iberian Peninsula, the Iberian Lynx faced near extinction as a result of disease, habitat loss, and road fatalities. Thanks to extensive and coordinated conservation efforts, its status was upgraded to Vulnerable in 2024, with the population now exceeding 2,000 individuals. This 6-day wildlife photography holiday ventures into the heart of Lynx territory, combining two nights at Peñalajo with three nights in the Sierra Morena — offering some of the best opportunities in the world to photograph this elusive cat. Here, within one of Europe’s most beautifully preserved Mediterranean ecosystems, you will also encounter a wealth of other wildlife, including Otter, Mouflon, Red Deer, Wild Boar, and raptors such as Cinereous and Griffon Vultures, and the magnificent Spanish Imperial Eagle. Led by an expert wildlife photographer, this immersive experience includes dedicated hide sessions, expert tuition in the field, and time for post-shoot image review and editing.

Dave has been fascinated by the natural world from an early age when his dad used to take him fishing at a local lake in Hertfordshire, however, he didn’t have the concentration to sit still for long unless trying to encourage a Robin to feed from his hand! In adult life, he has been a long-serving committee member of the local RSPB Members’ Group and took part in the charity’s fund-raising bike rides from London to Oxford, ‘Pedal for Puffins’ and ‘Pedal for Parrots’.
