In this month's tour leader spotlight Matthew Capper describes the current conservation projects which concern him most, his most memorable wildlife encounter and growing up on the doorstep of Rutland Water.

The Eel House, built in the 1820s in neighbouring Alresford, is a very rare surviving example of a purpose-built eel-trapping house. When the opportunity arose this year to help with the funding of the restoration of the town’s historic Eel House, we were very pleased to assist.
