This relaxed and gentle-paced holiday offers the opportunity to experience one of Africa’s last great unfenced wildernesses from the comfort of a single, superbly located lodge. Based for seven nights at Mana Pools Safari Lodge, set within Mana Pools National Park, one of Zimbabwe’s flagship protected areas, we will enjoy a carefully balanced programme of optional activities focused on the reserve's exceptional mammals, birds and other wildlife. Rather than spending long hours driving between destinations, we can immerse ourselves in one area, enjoying specialist tracking excursions, leisurely wildlife-watching on the banks of the Zambezi, and ample time to relax on one of the lodges many viewing platforms.

Mana Pools is perhaps best known for its intimate, on-foot encounters with large mammals, particularly its healthy Elephant population and resident African Wild Dog packs, as well as for its rich birdlife, with over 350 recorded species. During our stay we will have opportunities to walk out into the bush in search of Wild Dogs and the famous 'standing Elephants', and to explore the Zambezi by boat and on foot, drifting past pods of Hippos, basking Crocodiles and Elephants wading through the channels, all while scanning the riverbanks and islands for waterbirds, raptors and riverine specialists. Combined with morning and evening game drives, this tour offers a wonderfully relaxed introduction to some of southern Africa’s most iconic wildlife and the unfenced wilderness of the lower Zambezi.
