There is no doubt that among all wild animals, the big cats hold a special mystique. Large, powerful and predatory, yet also usually solitary, silent and elusive, the great cats are masters of their environments, apex predators feared by all – you only have to hear the tense bark of a deer scenting a Tiger, or hear the breathless alarm notes of Zebras and Wildebeest stalked by Lions, to appreciate that.
